Drupal geospatial testbed

Welcome to geodaniel.org, a geospatial testbed for Drupal.

Drupal is an open source content management system for which a number of community members have contributed modules that help make it into a Geospatial Content Management System (GeoCMS).

Modules exist that store basic location information for each node - or piece of content - as well as for each user, allow the display of Google Maps either of arbitrary points or of nodes and users, allow standards compliant maps to be displayed from outside of the site, allow for simple location-based search, and a few other things. Recently added functionality includes the ability to produce KML feeds for Google Earth and also consume and produce GeoRSS feeds.

One of the goals will be to create a GeoCMS install profile for Drupal that includes relevant modules and a basic configuration to allow for out-of-the-box installation.

Part of my day job is to work with Drupal and to work on improving the general flow of geographic information through the system. I'm currently interested in making Drupal modules - as well as improving existing ones - that deal with geographic information and making them interoperable using standards where available. The idea is that standards compliant geodata clients and geographic information systems (GIS) should be able to communicate with Drupal without any difficulty.
